Networks and Partners

Réseau Afrique 2000

Since 1997, Le Réseau Afrique 2000 has brought together sub-Saharan, French-speaking HIV/Aids NGOs and the French NGO AIDES. It is a platform for exchanging information and practices of North and South NGOs and has 17 members coming from 8 different countries (Burkina Faso, Burundi, the Ivory Coast, Guinea Conakry, Mali, Niger, Senegal and Togo).

Spreading and improving know-how is the vocation of the community-based training courses offered by the Réseau Afrique 2000 for its members. These training sessions take place, for the most part, in the centre in Donya, Bamako.

The centre is supported by the Malian NGO, ARCAD/Sida which is a member of the network.

40 actors of this network have been trained as trainers and are now active in their countries and contribute to the spread of good practices on comprehensive care in the field of HIV/Aids.

The actions of AIDES abroad are based on bringing together all the actors in the network in order to exchange on good practices and experiences
In the past ten years, the members of Afrique 2000 have helped thousands of people living with HIV/Aids to receive quality treatment and care. This is the proof that access to care is possible even in extremely poor settings.

Following on this success the network has set itself a new challenge: free access to quality care and treatment for all people living with HIV/Aids.

Central Africa Partnership

The success of the Afrique 2000 network has incited other NGOs in Central Africa to work in similar partnerships with AIDES. In 2005 we led a series of exploration missions in Central Africa in order to find new partners.
Since 2006, we have carried out exchange, mobilisation and capacity building programmes with 11 NGOs in 6 different countries of Central Africa (Cameroon, Central African Republic, Gabon, Chad, and Congo-Brazzaville) which also liaise with the partners of West Africa.

Partnerships with the Maghreb

Today the support actions are led with 4 organisations in Algeria, Morocco, Mauritania and Tunisia.
Our relationships with NGOs from North Africa are based on the implementation of a programme called Programme Cap prevention which was set up in 1996. This programme focuses on awareness actions and takes place in summer on boats between North Africa, France and Spain. Then between 2005 and 2009 another project called AMEDIS (Actions between the Maghreb and Europe on testing, information and support) was implemented.
AIDES has also worked closely with the Moroccan NGO ALCS for almost 20 years now.
