Making a change in the interest of all

Responding to the HIV/Aids epidemic involves a society-wide change. Through its expertise, the pertinence of its plea, the quality of its relations with public authorities and international organisations, AIDES is, in France and in the world, a force of proposal, a player in this change.

Innovating, experimenting, demonstrating, acting for the progress of administrative, legal and health frameworks in order to improve the quality of life of affected people. But also vehemently refusing infringements of more vulnerable people’s rights.

Trying to heal a wooden leg is no use: since the beginning, AIDES refuses to promote short-lived solutions. Our work is only meaningful if it prompts our society to evolve, to change, in order to better address the needs of those concerned, with a fairer, more tolerant social, economic and political framework.

Diseased people can be social reformers

"The medical institution
establishes a proximity with its patients
as well as a specific violence (…).
It is this violence that had to be reduced."

Daniel Defert
AIDES founding chairman
