Gaining a clearer understanding of other people’s needs.
For one week every year, everyone we have met during our regular activities – inside or outside AIDES – is sent an anonymous, voluntary questionnaire about their daily life, their sexuality, how they relate to HIV and hepatitis...
“AIDES and you” is the only national survey carried out amongst HIV and hepatitis sufferers. It aims to get to know them better and gain a clearer understanding of their hopes and needs. In 2005, 1932 people answered 150 questions. “AIDES and you” helps us to adapt the work we do and to seek to come as close as possible to the reality of the situations people have to deal with in their personal lives.
The figures speak for themselves: 55 % of people live alone, 29 % do not have a stable home, 56 % of those infected by hepatitis C are on basic income support, while 23 % have a stable job.
“Aides and you” is carried out as part of an agreement with the Health Directorate (DGS) and in partnership with the national institute of health and medical research (INSERM) and the regional health monitoring centre (ORS - PACA).
The results are available on documentation@aides.org
