18/Jun/2010 - 19:06 - Context The XIIth International Conference on Aids took place from July 9th to 14th, 2000 in Durban, South Africa. For the first time, this conference was taking place on the African continent, although 22.5 million people are directly affected by Aids in sub-Saharan Africa (out of 33 million people affected in the whole world) and Aids has become the first mortality cause in many African countries. This international meeting was also an opportunity to make Western public opinion more aware of the terrible toll the pandemic is taking in Africa.   Objective The Durban Conference aims at "breaking the silence" …
18/Jun/2010 - 19:02 - Context The XIVth International Conference on Aids, which took place from July 7th to 12th, 2002 in Barcelona.   Objective To remind that sub-Saharan Africa is the most Aids affected continent. More than 28 million people are directly affected by Aids in this region. There is an alarming statistic of 3.4 million new infections for the year 2001. Aids has now become the first mortality cause in too many African countries. Despite this, most African associations fighting Aids, unable to pay entry fees of 850 to 1050 $ per person (not association!), haven’t been able to attend the International Conference …
09/Jul/2010 - 14:02 - Context Sub-Saharan Africa, which represents only 11% of world population, is where 70% of HIV affected persons live. The epidemic is literally toppling the continent: 2.4 million dead in 2002, one person dying of Aids every 25 second, 12 million orphans, closed schools because of a lack of teachers, abandoned fields because of a lack of farmers (7 million farmers have died of Aids since 1985)...   Objective AIDES decided to make an awareness campaign on print and TV on the theme of Aids in Africa to remind the general public that a whole continent is dying, that militants are …
18/Jun/2010 - 18:49 - Context In today’s consumer society, in a context of "traditional values" collapsing, brands represent "substitution values" for consumers, especially younger ones, who try to find identity references trough brands. Brands and their logos may thus be used to define our relations to the world, society, other people, etc. This new campaign’s theme is focused on the universal symbol of Aids fighting and solidarity with affected people: the red ribbon. By bringing it back into fashion, AIDES wishes to encourage everyone to a civic act: openly show solidarity with affected people, visibly give a new strength to Aids fighting, display a …
18/Jun/2010 - 18:45 - Context The arrival of treatments opened up new prospects in the lives of people affected by HIV/Aids. For example, having access to employment, finding a job again or keeping one’s professional activity are now at the heart of most HIV positive person’s concerns. However, the latest indicators all show there are increased integration difficulties for these persons, who have to face many snags before the world of business opens its doors to them. Whether latent or blatant, these discriminatory practices show all the efforts that still have to be done for business players to finally accept to leave a place …
18/Jun/2010 - 18:41 - Context If public comments on HIV have evolved, if social players all say they are convinced of the need to fight discriminations, real life situations demonstrate every day that being HIV positive is still not only a barrier to integration into society but also a motive of rejection and stigmatisation in the private sphere. The survey carried out by Sida Info Service in 2002 on the issue very much speaks for itself: 45% of respondents say they were denied access to an insurance or were penalised, 36% were ostracised at work (moral harassment, dismissal, ...) and 33% mention discriminations in …
18/Jun/2010 - 18:37 - Stricly for a mature adult audience     Context In the porn industry, many actors play without a condom, which results in a significant number of infections and doesn’t help in sending prevention messages to the audience.   Objective Remind the porn film audience that it is essential to be protected in all circumstances. Invite porn actors to play with a condom, which still remains the only way to be protected against Aids.   Project A set of 4 videos showing people having sex in disastrous situations. The final signature states that the main thing is that the sexual intercourse …
29/Jun/2010 - 11:16 - Context In the general context of an HIV/Aids epidemic revival (5,000 new infections in France in 2002) 40% of the 15-19 years old claim they don’t use condoms any more (Nova Mag-Opinionway – 2002), relying on trust instead of latex. Knowledge of the issue is patchy, badly assimilated: 50% of young people think Aids can be transmitted through saliva or sweat!   Objective To invite the general public to pay redoubled attention in the summertime period which is especially favourable to loosened preventive behaviour and to the younger ones having their first sexual relations. To remind that the only way …
18/Jun/2010 - 18:31 - Context A loosening of preventive behaviour and a disinterest for condom, which nonetheless still remains the only effective way of being protected against Aids. A survey carried out in 2001 among 3,321 French people aged 18 to 69 by the Observatoire Régional de Santé of Ile-de-France (Ile-de-France Regional Health Observatory) about "Knowledge, beliefs and behaviours in view of HIV/Aids in Fance in 2001" very clearly highlights the fact that Aids is now considered to be less dangerous: 36,3% of French people in 1998 were afraid of Aids but only 28,1% in 2001.   Objective To remind, through the frankly impacting …
28/Jun/2010 - 17:30 - Context In France, 10 years ago, there was 1 woman for 7 men when it came to Aids cases, today there is 1 woman for 3 men. The first results of the mandatory HIV notification (BEH N°24-25/2004 – June 8th, 2004) showed that 43% of new infections and 58% of infections through heterosexual relations affect women. Moreover, they represent 29% of persons in Aids phase. The number of HIV diagnosises for women is superior to that observed for men in the 15-19, 20-24 and 20-29 age brackets. Starting with the 30-34 age bracket, it is men who are more affected. …
